How to install trench covers
The LowPro range of trench covers has been designed with ease of use in mind. Whether you’re using the LowPro 11/11, LowPro 12/08 or LowPro 15/10 this guide will explain just how simple they are to install.
Step one: Measure your trench
Measure the dimensions of the trench, both width and length so you can calculate how many trench covers you’ll need for the job.
Step two: Choose your trench cover
Selecting the right trench cover for the job is important, if the trench cover does not properly cover the width of the trench, there can be gaps or exposed edges which can become a trip hazard. Additionally, if the trench cover can’t handle the load, it can break or collapse resulting in accidents or injuries.

Step three: Prepare the trench
Before installing the trench it’s important to make sure the trench is clean and free of any debris and loose materials. A clean surface will allow for a stable installation.
You should also check the edges of the trench cover for signs of damage. If there is any damage to your trench cover then you should not use it.
Step four: Prepare the infill strips (if required)
Unscrew the plate and bolts at each end of the infill and insert the plate through the bolt hole. Then, insert the 2nd plate into the bolt hole on the long or short side.
Step five: Move the trench covers into position
The LowPro 11/11 is designed to be used without infills to cover trenches up to 27 inches wide. The LowPro 12/08 and LowPro 11/11 can be lifted and installed by just one person, while the LowPro 15/10 is a two-person lift.
Place the LowPro composite trench cover with the plates inserted over the trench.
Step six: Repeat
Place the next LowPro in line with the first over the infill plate and ensure the LowPro is sitting on the plate at both ends.
Step seven: Add infill strips
Place the infill strip between the LowPro’s and secure it in place with the two bolts at either end.
Step eight: Repeat
Repeat as required until the whole trench is fully covered.
